厚片土司

Golden Crispy Toast with Garlic Spread

Yield: ½ cup for 12 pieces of bread

Ingredients

Butter – 110 g

Garlic – 3 -5 cloves

Sugar – 1 to 1½ tablespoons

Salt – ⅓ teaspoon

Curry powder – ⅓ teaspoon

Parsley flakes (or dried basil or any other dried herb) - ⅓ teaspoon

A loaf of bread – sliced into thick slices (or use regular pre-sliced bread)

Steps

  1. Let the butter soften in room temperature. Grind the garlic cloves into a paste.
  2. Combine all the ingredients together.
  3. Preheat the oven to 225°C (437°F).
  4. Slightly score the thick slice of bread so it is easier to tear in half after toasting. Don’t slice it all the way through. Score the bread first then smear the garlic spread on.
  5. Toast the bread slices on the middle rack of the oven for 6 minutes. Thin slices of bread need less time in the oven.

If you are using a toaster oven, there is no need to preheat. Just toast the bread until golden brown. If your oven only has the upper heating element, toast one side of the bread first then smear the spread on the opposite side and toast one more time.
